As an accountant, you have a unique way to give back in community. Your unique skill set can offer quantitative and business process value-add to nonprofits, civic associations, and other organizations focused on the common good. You can do paid accounting for a nonprofit focused on a mission or issue you care about. You can also volunteer.
A good way to dip your toes in the water to this type of service is to learn about and participate in the Accounting Society at SPU. The Accounting Society is a student-driven group that hosts various events throughout the year. Join as a member and ask how you can serve. It’s a great way to get involved and learn how to contribute to the SPU community!
